Untitled Tatts Finke Desert Race Film

Wild State, the production company founded by Chris Hemsworth and Ben Grayson, has secured an exclusive partnership with the Tatts Finke Desert Race to develop a narrative feature film built around the iconic Australian motorsport event. The project will star Hemsworth and is being scripted by Ricky Staub and Dan Walser, the writer-director duo behind Netflix's Concrete Cowboy. The film is in early development and coincides with the race's 50th anniversary in 2026. The Tatts Finke Desert Race is held annually over the King's Birthday weekend in June, running 446 kilometers from Alice Springs to the remote community of Aputula and back through challenging desert terrain. Wild State is also producing unscripted content around the event, including a project featuring freestyle motocross legend Robbie Maddison competing in the race for the first time.
