Detour Film Production

Detour Filmproduction (operating as Detour Inc.) is the Austin, Texas-based production company of acclaimed writer/director/producer Richard Linklater, founded as a homage to the 1945 film noir of the same name. The company serves as the creative home base for all of Linklater's film projects, from early works like Slacker (1991) and Dazed and Confused (1993) through celebrated titles such as Boyhood (2014), Hit Man (2024), and the in-progress multi-decade musical adaptation Merrily We Roll Along. The company is a small, privately held operation based at Austin Studios and also offers semester-long internships for aspiring filmmakers.
