The One We Left Behind

The One We Left Behind is in development as a feature film at Mike Caron Productions. Director Mike Caron, known for his work on Nickelodeon's Henry Danger and Danger Force, optioned Sara Coven's award-winning middle-grade novel about bullying, friendship, and the consequences of difficult choices. Set in the 1990s, the story centers on thirteen-year-old Evan, whose reputation as one of the cool kids is challenged when he's assigned to befriend William, a new student with severe food allergies who becomes the target of ridicule. Sean Lavery, who wrote for Cougar Town and Crossing Swords, has been set to pen the screenplay. Caron launched Mike Caron Productions in 2022 to develop original concepts and acquire intellectual property, and this project represents his interest in exploring bullying in a deeper, feature-length format.
