Project Summary

Peter Jackson has confirmed he is actively writing the sequel to The Adventures of Tintin, the 2011 motion-capture animated feature originally directed by Steven Spielberg. Jackson revealed at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2026 that he and his longtime writing partner Fran Walsh have completed a script for the project, which he's been developing in fits and starts for over a decade. The film will be produced through a collaboration between Amblin Entertainment, WingNut Films, and The Kennedy/Marshall Company, with visual effects and animation handled by Wētā FX in Wellington, New Zealand. Jackson previously produced the first Tintin film and made a deal with Spielberg to direct the sequel, though the project has remained dormant since 2018. The intensive motion-capture animation process typically requires at least two years of production work. No start date or casting announcements have been made.
