Suzie Q

Suzie Q is a vertical-video animated comedy series in development at Perth-based MaxFoo Studios. The project has secured production funding through Screen Australia and Screenwest to develop 31 one-minute episodes designed for social video platforms. Writer, animator and director Dung Nguyen draws from personal experience to tell the story of a mediocre art student chasing her dreams while facing family pressure to pursue more financially stable career paths. Producer Michael John Long leads the MaxFoo team in what they describe as one of the biggest animation projects of its kind to emerge from Western Australia. The series aims to balance exaggerated comedy with deeper themes about the collective struggles of breaking into the creative industries, particularly in a state where opportunities for animation professionals remain limited. The project positions MaxFoo Studios to create fresh career pathways for Western Australian animators while developing original IP for global digital audiences.
