Samurai Spirits

Samurai Spirits is in early development as a feature film from The Arena, the production banner led by Erik Feig. Laeta Kalogridis, creator of Netflix's Altered Carbon, is writing the screenplay based on SNK's influential 1993 arcade fighting game. The original game set one-on-one battles in feudal Japan and became known for its weapon-based combat system, allowing characters to fight with swords or unarmed. The project joins The Arena's growing slate of SNK game adaptations, which also includes Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting. SNK, now owned by Saudi Arabia's MiSK Foundation, provides financial backing for The Arena. The adaptation remains in the script development phase with no production timeline or casting announced.
