Pulse (Remake)
Project Summary
Screen Gems and Spyglass are developing a reimagining of the 2001 Japanese horror film Pulse, with Dave Boyle attached to direct and revise a script by Luke Piotrowski. Boyle, whose supernatural horror Never After Dark releases September 25, has built his career on stories centered on Japanese and Japanese-American characters. Parker Finn and Jonathan Fass will produce through Bad Feeling, the production company behind Finn's Smile franchise and the upcoming Possession remake. The original Pulse, directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, premiered at Cannes in 2001 and follows young people in Tokyo experiencing strange phenomena as spirits attempt to invade the living world through technology. The new version will be set in the modern era and feature an entirely new set of characters. With Boyle now on board to do a script pass, the project moves forward in development at Sony's genre arm.
