Patrimonial Fears and Other Illusions
Project Summary
Patrimonial Fears and Other Illusions is a Greek feature film written and directed by Elina Psykou, heading to the Venice Gap-Financing Market in September 2026 to secure final financing. The project has attached a trio of acclaimed Greek actors: Xenia Kalogeropoulou, Antonis Kafetzopoulos, and Makis Papadimitriou. The film follows three women from one family as they confront intergenerational trauma against the backdrop of a magician's elaborate feat to make the Acropolis vanish. An international co-production between Greece, the Netherlands, and Cyprus, the project is produced by Jungle Films, Homemade Films, and StudioBauhaus in Greece, with Studio Ruba in the Netherlands and Bark Like a Cat Films in Cyprus. The film has secured support from Eurimages, Creative Europe MEDIA, the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center, the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation, the Netherlands Film Fund, and the Deputy Ministry of Culture in Cyprus. Set in Athens, the production is Psykou's fourth feature following her documentary Stray Bodies and Tribeca award-winner Son of Sofia.
