Creative Europe MEDIA

Creative Europe MEDIA is the audiovisual strand of the European Union's Creative Europe programme, designed to support the European film and audiovisual industries by funding the development, distribution, and promotion of European works. Originally established in 1990 as the MEDIA Programme of the European Union (MEDIA being an acronym for the French 'Mesures pour Encourager le Développement de L'Industrie Audiovisuelle'), it was integrated into Creative Europe in 2013 and since 2014 is administered by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG CONNECT). With a current budget of €2.44 billion for 2021–2027, it supports film, TV, video games, and XR content across development, distribution, talent training, audience development, and festival promotion, and in 2026 marks its 35th anniversary of supporting European audiovisual content.
