Project Summary

No Way Out is a feature film in development at Netflix based on Major Adam Jowett's 2019 memoir about Easy Company, a hastily assembled unit of British Paras and Royal Irish Rangers who defended the district center of Musa Qala in Afghanistan's Helmand Province during a brutal 21-day Taliban siege in July 2006. Oscar-nominated screenwriter Matt Charman is writing the adaptation. Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Tracy Ryerson will produce through Archewell Productions as part of the company's first-look deal with Netflix. The project holds particular resonance for Prince Harry, who served two tours of duty in Afghanistan, including in Helmand Province. The memoir, published by Pan Macmillan, has been compared to war films such as Black Hawk Down and described as a vivid account of combat leadership under relentless attack.
