King of Ashes

King of Ashes is an FX drama series in development from Elgin James, adapting S. A. Cosby's bestselling Southern Gothic crime thriller. The series centers on Roman Carruthers, who returns to his family's crematory business in Jefferson Run, Virginia, after his father falls into a coma following a suspicious hit-and-run. He discovers his brother Dante's criminal debts have endangered the entire family, forcing Roman to do whatever it takes to protect them. James serves as executive producer alongside Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey, and Todd Cohen. The project brings together production companies Amblin Television, Higher Ground, and 20th Television, where James holds an overall deal. The series marks a reunion for James with the creative infrastructure behind his successful FX series Mayans M. C. , which ran for five seasons.
