Expendabelles

Expendabelles is back in development after more than a decade in limbo, with Eclectic Pictures and Hollywood Ventures Group partnering on this female-led expansion of The Expendables franchise. Originally conceived by Heidi Jo Markel, Patrick Muldoon, and Julie Kroll, the reimagined project is set as an origin story taking place in the late 1990s amid Y2K tensions and geopolitical uncertainty. Markel and Glenn Gainor are producing, with executive producers including Sandy Climan, Joe Smith, Nelly Kim, Julie Kroll, Stephen R. Foreht, and John Yarincik. The project moves forward with support from Lionsgate, which acquired the franchise rights in late 2025. Announced at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2026, the producers are currently in the packaging phase, actively seeking distribution partners, financiers, and assembling the creative team. No cast, director, or production timeline has been announced.
