Chapa 100

Chapa 100 is the second feature from Mozambican writer-director Ique Langa, now in advanced development following its 2025 Atlas Workshops Development Award win. The project is lead produced by Lara Sousa at Kulunga Filmes in Maputo, with co-production from Pedro Borges at Portugal's Midas Filmes. The film has recently added Mo Harawe as associate producer, whose debut feature The Village Next to Paradise screened at Cannes 2024. Egyptian cinematographer Mostafa El Kashef is also attached, and a third production partner, Mozambique's Better Films, has joined the team. Italy-based sales agent Luminalia has boarded international sales. Set among Maputo's chapas—the local minibuses that carry thousands daily—the story follows elderly street vendors whose gentle romance takes on magical realist dimensions. The project is currently being presented at Locarno's 2026 Open Doors, the festival's Africa-focused co-production platform, as it seeks international financing partners.
