Midas Filmes

Midas Filmes is a Lisbon-based independent Portuguese film production and distribution company founded in 2006 by Pedro Borges. The company distributes Portuguese, European, and international independent cinema theatrically, on DVD, and across digital platforms, with a catalog exceeding 250 theatrical releases and 300 DVD editions. As a producer and co-producer, Midas has accumulated over 40 productions, including award-winning titles such as Alma Viva (Cannes 2022, Semaine de la Critique) and the João Canijo diptych Mal Viver / Viver Mal (Silver Bear at Berlinale 2023). Since 2014, Midas also operates Cinema Ideal, the only independent art-house cinema in downtown Lisbon, a member of Europa Cinemas.
