Project Summary
The Summer of Broken Rules is a film adaptation of K. L. Walther's bestselling young adult novel, currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios. The project reunites Sophia Stallone's newly launched Common Era Projects with Sylvester Stallone's Balboa Productions, which holds a first-look deal with Amazon MGM. Screenwriters Lauren Hynek and Elizabeth Martin, the duo behind Disney's live-action Mulan and Netflix's animated feature Spellbound, are adapting Walther's 2021 novel. The story centers on Meredith Fox, who lost her sister Claire eighteen months earlier and shut everyone out. Returning to her family's Martha's Vineyard summer tradition for a cousin's wedding, Meredith is determined to win the family's elaborate game of Assassin in her sister's honor—until an alliance with a charming groomsman complicates her plans. Sophia Stallone will produce alongside her father and D. Matt Geller for Balboa Productions.
