The River Within You

The River Within You is an immersive VR experience in pre-production from Taiwanese animation director Hsin Hsuan Yeh, whose previous work Sense of Nowhere premiered at Venice in 2025. The project draws on Taiwanese folk belief as it follows a grandmother who has just died, guided by a butterfly toward an ocean of tears, only to be pulled back into dissolving memories when her grieving granddaughter's tear falls on her body. Producer Hsia Hsien Chao is collaborating with Yeh on this emotionally driven piece, which marks the producer's first venture into virtual reality storytelling about loss and bereavement. The project is currently seeking gap financing at the Venice Production Bridge, positioning it for production once funding is secured.
