Project Summary
The Remembered Soldier reunites director-writer Olivia Newman with Netflix following the success of Remarkably Bright Creatures. The feature adapts Anjet Daanje's National Book Award finalist novel, set in the aftermath of World War I. Newman will write and direct, with Bryan Unkeless and Peter Craig producing through their Night Owl Stories banner. The story centers on a traumatized veteran with amnesia who is claimed by Julienne Coppens, a woman insisting he is her long-lost husband, a photographer named Amand. The project marks Newman's fourth book adaptation as a director and second as a writer, continuing her track record with literary material following Where the Crawdads Sing and Remarkably Bright Creatures. Gregory Cohen will executive produce for Night Owl Stories.
