The Bottom Line

The Bottom Line is a Finland-Sweden co-production romantic comedy currently in development and financing. Director Jon Blåhed has attached Alma Pöysti to lead as Iris, a ferry musician caught between different versions of her life, with William Spetz and Pekka Strang rounding out the cast. The film takes place aboard the four-hour Kvarken ferry crossing between Vaasa, Finland and Umeå, Sweden, blending three languages—Swedish, Finland-Swedish, and Finnish—into what Blåhed describes as a modern romcom with a tragicomic edge. Mia Welin produces for Anagram Sweden (part of Studio TF1) in co-production with Just Republic. Scanbox will distribute across the Nordic region. The project has been developed with support from the Swedish Film Institute and the Amos Anderson Fund, and will be pitched at the Finnish Film Affair in Helsinki on September 23-25, 2026. Markus Krunegård is writing original songs to be performed by Pöysti.
