Project Summary
Shania is a biographical film about country-pop superstar Shania Twain in development at Sony Pictures. Leah McKendrick will write and direct from her original script, drawing on her background as a pop singer-songwriter. Twain herself is producing alongside Amie Karp, with a previous script by Jessica Welsh also in the mix. The project joins Sony's slate of major music biopics, following Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody and the upcoming Beatles project from Sam Mendes. Plot details remain under wraps, though the film is expected to explore Twain's journey from Ontario to global stardom in the 1990s. No casting, production timeline, or filming locations have been announced yet.
