Project Summary
Ravenloft is a live-action series in development at Netflix, based on the gothic horror campaign setting from Dungeons & Dragons. Writer and executive producer John August brings his Tim Burton collaborations experience to the project, having penned Big Fish, Corpse Bride, and Frankenweenie. Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuarón executive produces alongside August, marking Cuarón's return to Netflix following his acclaimed Roma. The series centers on the vampire Darklord Strahd von Zarovich, exploring his journey from antihero to villain in a prestige fantasy where adventure collides with gothic horror and tragic romance. Hasbro Entertainment is partnering with Netflix on the adaptation, with Gabriel Marano executive producing for Hasbro and Richard Schwartz and Gaby Rodriguez for Cuarón's Esperanto Filmoj. The Ravenloft setting, created in 1983 by Tracy and Laura Hickman, is one of the most popular in the D&D universe. No production timeline has been announced.
