Gia – The Shadow of Beauty

Gia – The Shadow of Beauty is a feature documentary from Italian filmmaker Rosita Larocca, marking her directorial debut. The project takes an intimate, formally ambitious approach to the life of late supermodel Gia Carangi, positioning itself outside traditional biography conventions. Asia Argento joins as executive producer, bringing mentorship and creative support, while Lizzy Harris executive produces through Pool Creative in the U. S. The Italian production company Artex is producing, with a U. S. -Italy co-production structure. The documentary features Marta Pozzan and combines archival material, testimonies, and visual reconstructions. Editor Walter Fasano, known for his work with Luca Guadagnino, will shape the narrative rhythm, with cinematography by Francesca Zonars and score by Luca Tomassini. The project is being presented to potential partners at the Cannes 2026 Marché du Film as international financing remains open, with production slated to begin later in 2026.
