Project Summary
Girls is returning to HBO for a five-episode limited run reuniting creator and star Lena Dunham with the original cast. The revival, announced in October 2026, will see Dunham reprising her role as Hannah Horvath alongside Allison Williams as Marnie, Jemima Kirke as Jessa, Zosia Mamet as Shoshanna, and Andrew Rannells as Elijah. Judd Apatow returns as executive producer via Apatow Productions, while Ilene S. Landress and Michael P. Cohen of Dunham's Good Thing Going banner also serve as executive producers. Rita Wilson has indicated she will reprise her role as Evie Michaels, mother to Williams' character. Production is scheduled to begin in summer 2027, ten years after the original series concluded its six-season run. While the original series was set in New York City and filmed primarily in Brooklyn, specific filming locations for the revival have not yet been announced. HBO has not yet set a premiere date for the limited series.
