Barbarella

Barbarella is moving forward at Sony Pictures and TriStar, with Sydney Sweeney attached to star and executive produce through her newly formed production company, Honey Trap. Edgar Wright remains attached to direct, with Jane Goldman and Honey Ross writing the script. The project, first announced in October 2023, is now actively in development under Sweeney's first-look deal with Sony. Based on Jean-Claude Forest's French comic series and the 1968 cult classic starring Jane Fonda, the remake follows a 41st-century space traveler on a mission to stop an evil scientist whose weapon threatens the galaxy. While no production start date has been set, Sweeney confirmed in recent interviews that she's been meeting in London to discuss the story and script, noting the project will come together in a big way once Wright's schedule allows.
