Almost There

Almost There is an international arthouse feature currently in development from Sakha filmmaker Stepan Burnashev. The project brings together Japan's Cloud11 Studios, France's Les films du Sillon, and Hong Kong's Saidam Baryl Ltd. in a cross-cultural collaboration unveiled at the 2026 Cannes Marché du Film. Set in Japan, the character-driven road movie follows an unexpected encounter between a Japanese man and a visitor from the Sakha Republic who, despite vastly different backgrounds, share an inability to move on from their pasts. Their chance meeting evolves into an emotional journey marked by growing human connection and self-exploration. Hiroyuki Yoshihara produces for Cloud11 Studios, Emmanuelle Faucilhon for Les films du Sillon, and Burnashev through his company Saidam Baryl. The completed script targets a 2027 production start, with the team currently focused on development and financing.
