Untitled Jimmy Olsen Superman Spinoff Series

DC Studios is developing an untitled Jimmy Olsen series for HBO Max, with Skyler Gisondo reprising his role from the Superman film. The mockumentary-style show takes the form of a true-crime docuseries, following the Daily Planet photographer as he investigates villainous metahumans across the DC Universe. Season one will focus on Gorilla Grodd, the telepathic super-intelligent ape. American Vandal creators Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda are attached as showrunners, writers, and executive producers, with James Gunn and Peter Safran also executive producing. The cast includes Mary Holland as Sandra and Jimmy Tatro as Gorilla Grodd, alongside returning Daily Planet staff from the Superman film. Production is targeting late August through October 2026 in Atlanta, pending HBO Max's official greenlight.
