Project Summary
Veleta tells the story of Ana 'Nita' Carmona Ruiz, a working-class woman who became Spain's first female soccer player by binding her chest, hiding her hair, and assuming a male identity to compete in early 20th-century Málaga. The film is directed and co-written by Paco Torres, with a screenplay co-authored by Amaya Muruzábal, creator of Hernán and showrunner of Prime Video's Red Queen. Goya-nominated actress Zoe Bonafonte leads the cast as Nita, joined by Goya winner Dani Rovira as her father and Vikings actor Moe Dunford. The Spain-Argentina co-production wrapped principal photography in Andalusia in mid-August 2026 after shooting across Málaga, Torrox, Antequera, and Motril. Produced by Blend Studios, M Content, Nephilim Producciones, and Lahaye Media, with support from RTVA and the Málaga Provincial Council, the film is slated for theatrical release in 2027.
