The Ballad of the Ember Knight

Sony Pictures has acquired The Ballad of the Ember Knight, a spec screenplay by first-time writers Kieran and Brennan O'Dea. The project is a 14th-century period drama set during the French and English conflict of the Hundred Years' War. The story follows a disgraced warrior—once known as the legendary Ember Knight—who stands accused of murdering the royal family and must now protect the kingdom's last surviving heir to reclaim his honor. The screenplay, which runs 190 pages, was brought into Sony by executives Brittany Morrissey and Peter Kang and came without producer attachments. The O'Dea brothers, repped by CAA and Kaplan Perrone Entertainment, sold the script in a near seven-figure deal. No director or production timeline has been announced.
