After her husband's death, Tova Sullivan works the night shift cleaning at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, staying busy to cope with the loss of her son, Erik, who vanished in Puget Sound over 30 years ago. She forms an unexpected bond with Marcellus, a clever Pacific octopus at the aquarium.
