Project Summary
Nightsleeper returns for a second season with a fresh ensemble led by Colin Morgan, Madeleine Mantock, and Christian Cooke. The six-part thriller moves from the overnight train of season one to a passenger ferry crossing the Irish Sea from Belfast to Liverpool, where a cyber-attack puts everyone aboard at risk. Writer Nick Leather returns alongside directors James Kent and Chris Baugh. Element Pictures is producing for BBC iPlayer and BBC One, with support from Northern Ireland Screen. The series is currently filming in Belfast, bringing together a cast that includes Rupert Penry-Jones, Ian McElhinney, and Sally Lindsay. This real-time format builds on the success of the first season, which became the BBC's biggest new drama launch of 2024.
