Project Summary
In Contempt is heading into pre-production for ITV, with Jodie Whittaker starring as barrister Olivia Savareid, a media law specialist whose career defending high-profile clients against defamation and social media attacks takes a dramatic turn. Written by Steve Thompson, known for Sherlock and Vienna Blood, the series explores the tension between press freedom and privacy rights in the digital age. Hartswood Films is producing in association with ITV Studios, with Sue Vertue and Steven Moffat executive producing alongside Thompson. Ed Bazalgette directs, with Lawrence Till producing. The series will begin filming in London in autumn 2026, with casting currently underway.
