Hartswood Films

Hartswood Films is a BAFTA and Emmy-winning British television production company founded in 1979 by Beryl Vertue, making it the UK's longest-established scripted producer. A writer-led company based in Richmond and Cardiff, it creates landmark drama and comedy for leading global broadcasters and platforms including the BBC, ITV, Netflix, and Prime Video. The company is best known for producing Sherlock, Dracula, The Devil's Hour, Douglas Is Cancelled, Men Behaving Badly, and Coupling, and works closely with creative director Steven Moffat and a roster of acclaimed writers and actors. In July 2024, ITV Studios acquired a majority stake in the company, with ITV Studios now handling international distribution for future Hartswood commissions.
