Project Summary
Close Protection is a romantic thriller series in development at Hulu, created by Dean Georgaris and John Fox. The project centers on an American bodyguard tasked with protecting a British princess, with Georgaris set to write the series. Executive producers include Georgaris, Fox, and Davis Entertainment founder John Davis, with Universal Television serving as the studio. Both Georgaris and Davis Entertainment have ongoing deals with Universal Television. The premise fits into the growing "romantasy" bodyguard genre and echoes an unrealized sequel concept to the 1992 film The Bodyguard. Georgaris recently served as showrunner on the Quantum Leap reboot, while Fox holds the title of Davis Entertainment President. The project was sold to Hulu in April 2026 as Georgaris and Fox await a decision on their NBC pilot Key Witness starring Emily Deschanel. No casting, production timeline, or shooting locations have been announced.
