Project Summary
An Indian Cowboy is an Australia-India feature film inspired by the life of Bobby Cash, the Indian country music singer who traveled from Dehradun, Uttarakhand to Tamworth, NSW and became known as 'The Indian Cowboy.' The project is being directed by Sydney-based filmmaker Anupam Sharma, with Victoria Wharfe McIntyre writing the screenplay. Satish Sharma serves as Indian co-producer. The film is pitched as less a biopic than a story exploring themes of music, migration, and identity across India and Australia. NSW Premier Chris Minns announced the project at the Australian High Commission in New Delhi. The film is being structured as an Australian production with development investment from India, and represents one of several projects in development for Sharma.
