Untitled Star Wars Film (Jon Watts)

Jon Watts has been tapped to direct the first film in a new Star Wars trilogy for Lucasfilm, with a script by Simon Kinberg. The project is being developed as the next chapter in the Skywalker Saga, potentially Episode X, following 2019's The Rise of Skywalker. Watts previously co-created the Disney+ series Skeleton Crew and directed Marvel's Spider-Man trilogy. Kinberg, who co-created Star Wars Rebels and consulted on The Force Awakens, will write and produce the trilogy alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. The project remains in development and has not yet been greenlit by Disney, though sources indicate it is the furthest along in Lucasfilm's pipeline after Star Wars: Starfighter. Reports suggest Daisy Ridley may return as Rey Skywalker in some capacity.
