Project Summary
Butcher & Blackbird is a dark romance feature film now in pre-production at Amazon MGM Studios for worldwide release on Prime Video. Chris McKay directs from a screenplay by Laura Kosann, with revisions by Ari Berkowitz and Ava Tramer. Emma Laird has been cast as Sloane 'Blackbird' Sutherland, with Thomas Doherty playing Rowan 'The Boston Butcher' Kane. The adaptation is based on Brynne Weaver's bestselling novel, the first installment of her Ruinous Love trilogy. Lyrical Media's Alexander Black and Embrace are producing, with Weaver and McKay serving as executive producers alongside Arlen Konopaki, Jon Rosenberg, and Jonathan Faust. McKay brings experience from The Lego Batman Movie, The Tomorrow War, and Renfield to this project, which marks Amazon MGM's move into dark romance territory.
