Project Summary
The Roads of Forgotten Dreams is a feature-length documentary currently in production from Estonian director Joosep Matjus. The film tracks Italian photographer Luca Berti on his bicycle journey from Florence through the Nordic and Baltic countryside, documenting his search for authentic rural life and traditional connections to the land. Shooting is taking place across Estonia, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Latvia, and Italy. The project is produced by Wildkino in Estonia alongside German co-producer Seetree, with backing from the Estonian Film Institute and Estonian Cultural Endowment. Matjus, who also serves as cinematographer and screenwriter, founded Wildkino in 2015 and is known for his nature documentaries including The Wind Sculpted Land. The project was selected for the Baltic Sea Docs 2025 co-production forum and is being designed for flexible distribution with both a theatrical version and a 52-minute television cut planned.
