The Long Hair In The Attic
Project Summary
The Long Hair In The Attic is a horror feature in development through a three-way partnership between Japan's Toei, Thailand's M Studio, and South Korea's Showbox. Thai director Sitisiri Mongkolsiri, known for Netflix's Hunger and the Oscar-submitted Inhuman Kiss, will helm the adaptation of renowned manga artist Junji Ito's 1988 one-shot. The story centers on a young woman whose hair becomes animated with a desire for vengeance after a painful breakup. Development is currently underway, with the production incorporating extensive visual effects work. Shooting is scheduled to begin in 2027. The collaboration brings together Toei's IP development expertise, M Studio's production capabilities and theatrical network in Southeast Asia, and Showbox's international distribution strength, positioning the film as a cross-border genre project aimed at audiences throughout Asia and beyond.
