Amy Bloom watches her husband, Brian, fade—retiring early, withdrawing, dwelling on the past—until an MRI confirms Alzheimer’s. Refusing a long decline, Brian chooses to “die on his feet.” Together, they make the agonizing journey to Dignitas in Switzerland to end his life with dignity.
