Daniel Richard McBride (born December 29, 1976, in Statesboro, Georgia) is an American actor, comedian, screenwriter, director, and producer best known for creating and starring in three HBO series — Eastbound & Down, Vice Principals, and The Righteous Gemstones (2019–2025) — through his production banner Rough House Pictures, co-founded with David Gordon Green and Jody Hill. He co-wrote all three films in the Blumhouse Halloween reboot trilogy (2018–2022), received a Primetime Emmy nomination for producing the documentary series Telemarketers (2023), and in 2026 debuted as a New York Times bestselling author with his short story collection Thrilling Tales of Modern Men. In July 2026, McBride was confirmed to write and direct an untitled G.I. Joe feature for Paramount Skydance — marking his feature directorial debut.
