Cábula

Cábula has wrapped principal photography and entered post-production under the direction of Lila Avilés, whose previous film Tótem won the Ecumenical Award at the 2023 Berlinale. Written by Avilés and Miguel Vasallo, the film follows Toña, a dedicated teacher in the fictional town of Mexicalpan who takes her class to Mexico's capital, where they face exploitation by urban elites. The project is produced by Nicolás Celis for Cuadernos de Cine and co-produced by Maria Zamora of Elastica Films, with a cast including Teresita Sánchez, Gabriela Cartol, and Montserrat Marañón. The film was presented at the Venice Gap-Financing Market in early September 2026 to close remaining international financing as it moves through post-production.
