MGM Studios

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) is one of Hollywood's most iconic studios, founded in 1924 and now operating as a banner within Amazon MGM Studios — a subsidiary of Amazon. Following Amazon's $8.45 billion acquisition of MGM in 2022 and the subsequent rebranding of Amazon Studios to Amazon MGM Studios in October 2023, the studio produces and distributes original films and series for theatrical release, Amazon Prime Video, and the premium cable/streaming network MGM+. MGM is home to legendary franchises including James Bond (now under full Amazon creative control after a ~$1 billion deal in 2025), Rocky, and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and is a member of the Motion Picture Association (MPA), with international theatrical distribution handled via a partnership with Sony Pictures International Releasing.
