Project Summary
The Black Tapes is an eight-episode supernatural horror investigation series greenlighted by MGM+, based on the hit 2015 podcast created by Terry Miles and Paul Bae. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau stars as Dr. Richard Strand, a brilliant psychiatrist who teams with scientist Alex Regan to debunk paranormal cases of hauntings, possessions, disappearances, and sinister legends. The series is produced by MGM+ Studios, with executive producers including Kearie Peak of Peak Pictures, John Rogers and Jennifer Court of Kung Fu Monkey Productions, and podcast creators Miles and Bae, who are also writing for the show alongside showrunner Rogers. Production is scheduled to begin in Vancouver in January 2027. The podcast source material has accumulated over 60 million downloads since its 2015 launch. The series will be available on MGM+ across the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Latin America.
