Cabaret

Cabaret is presented by Olive Branch Theatricals at The Olive Branch in Valencia, CA. Set in Berlin as the 1930s dawn and the Nazi Party rises to power, Cabaret follows the performers and patrons of the decadent Kit Kat Klub and the people whose lives intersect in a nearby boarding house. American writer Cliff Bradshaw arrives in search of inspiration and becomes involved with Sally Bowles, an ambitious English cabaret singer determined to live life on her own terms. Meanwhile, landlady Fräulein Schneider finds unexpected love with Herr Schultz, a Jewish German fruit merchant, even as political tensions threaten their future. As the club's seductive world of music, pleasure, and spectacle collides with the growing menace outside its doors, the characters must confront the cost of looking away — and the consequences of believing that the party can go on forever. The production embraces an immersive environment and intimate cabaret staging. Rehearsals will be mostly weeknights, generally Monday through Thursday, with some possible weekend rehearsals as tech approaches. Tech will begin around January 25, 2027, with the show opening for its three-weekend run on February 13, 2027. Based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood.
