Rorschach is a funny, romantic, and surprisingly tender play about what we see, what we miss, and the people standing right in front of us. In 1922 Switzerland, psychiatrist Hermann Rorschach and his closest friend and colleague, Emil Oberholzer, wrestle with the creation of the famous inkblot experiment and the complicated relationship behind it. A century later, psychology PhD student Justin becomes obsessed with uncovering their story, just as an unexpected connection with Aimee begins to challenge everything he thinks he understands about love. Meanwhile, Justin's actress sister Olive and her girlfriend Dana face their own question about what they see when they imagine a future together. Moving between past and present, science and art, comedy and romance, the three relationships begin to mirror one another like an inkblot: two people facing each other, with all that mysterious space in between where love usually takes shape. This is the inaugural production of the Skylight Theatre Company's new Artistic Director, Cameron Watson. The play is written by Kelly Younger, a Los Angeles playwright who received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for his writing on The Muppet Show produced by Seth Rogen and starring Sabrina Carpenter. Other credits include the Amazon/MGM feature film Candy Cane Lane starring Eddie Murphy.
