The Man Who Wasn't Meant

The Man Who Wasn't Meant (Mees, keda polnud mõeldud) is a comedy-drama currently in pre-production as the third feature from Estonian filmmaker Janno Jürgens. Jürgens co-wrote the screenplay with Anti Naulainen, his frequent collaborator on previous features Rain and No Me Without You. The project is produced by Marju Lepp and Manfred Vainokivi of Filmivabrik, the Tallinn-based production company behind Jürgens' earlier work. Erik Põllumaa returns as director of photography, continuing his partnership with Jürgens. The film stars Jarmo Reha and Priit Loog, with production design by Matis Mäesalu, costumes by Eve Valme, and makeup by Liisi Põllumaa. Principal photography is scheduled for March and April 2027 in Estonia, with support from the Estonian Film Institute and additional financing from the Cultural Endowment of Estonia and private investors. The project received a 799,000 EUR grant from the Estonian Film Institute in June 2026.
