Project Summary
The Horsemen of the Apocalypse is a feature-length hybrid documentary directed by Lene Berg that blends documentary, staged reconstructions, and fictional elements to explore themes of memory, trauma, and narrative. The film examines Berg's childhood experience after her father, renowned Norwegian director Arnljot Berg, was arrested in Paris in 1975 and accused of murdering his wife Evelyne. Berg herself appears in the film alongside Ane Dahl Torp, who portrays her alter ego, and Olav Waastad as her late father. The project is produced by Ellen Ugelstad through Norway's Twentyone Pictures, with co-producers Story AB in Sweden and Alma Bäng in Germany. Principal photography has wrapped and the film is currently in post-production, with director Lene Berg attending the Venice Gap-Financing Market in September 2026 to secure completion funding. The film is supported by Eurimage, the Norwegian Film Institute, Swedish Film Institute, ARTE, and multiple European funders, with a planned 2027 release and international sales handled by First Hand Films.
