Norwegian Film Institute

The Norwegian Film Institute (NFI / Norsk filminstitutt) is Norway's government agency responsible for film, drama, and video games, operating under the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Culture. Founded in 1955 and significantly expanded via a 2008 merger with the Norwegian Film Fund, Norwegian Film Development, and the Norwegian Film Commission, the NFI provides funding for development, production, promotion, and distribution of Norwegian audiovisual content. With an annual budget of approximately NOK 625 million (EUR 66 million) and roughly 100 employees, NFI also represents Norway in international bodies such as Eurimages, the European Audiovisual Observatory, and FIAF, and administers the Creative Europe MEDIA Desk for Norway.
