Project Summary
Saw 11 marks a fresh start for the billion-dollar horror franchise, now under the creative stewardship of original co-creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell. Mike P. Nelson has been tapped to direct from a screenplay by Gregory Weidman and Geoff Tock, known for their work on Dune: Prophecy. The project reunites Wan and Whannell with the franchise they launched in 2004, following Blumhouse Atomic Monster's acquisition of the Saw rights from Twisted Pictures in mid-2025. Jason Blum joins as a producer alongside Wan and Whannell, with Lionsgate and Blumhouse Atomic Monster co-producing. Nelson, whose recent horror credits include Wrong Turn, Silent Night Deadly Night, and the upcoming Beware Boiúna, brings what Wan describes as a raw and distinctive filmmaking voice to the franchise. The film will continue the existing mythology rather than reboot the series, following 2023's Saw X, which became the highest-reviewed entry in the franchise.
