Project Summary
Lionsgate and Blumhouse Atomic Monster are moving forward with a new Saw film, the first under the franchise's new ownership structure following Blumhouse's 2025 acquisition of Twisted Pictures' stake. Mike P. Nelson has been tapped to direct from a screenplay by Gregory Weidman and Geoff Tock. The project reunites franchise architects James Wan and Leigh Whannell as producers alongside Jason Blum, with Wan returning in a hands-on capacity for the first time since the 2004 original. According to Nelson, the script balances the claustrophobic mystery and moral tests of the original while introducing inventive new traps and narrative twists. Mark Burg, Oren Koules, Stacey Testro, Michael Clear, and Judson Scott serve as executive producers. The film will continue the franchise's existing mythology rather than rebooting its continuity.
