Project Summary
Playmates marks the feature directorial debut of Lorraine Nicholson, who wrote the screenplay based loosely on her own childhood experiences at the Playboy Mansion. The film follows 13-year-old know-it-all Elle, played by Indiana Elle, who meets Anna, portrayed by Lily-Rose Depp, one of seven hopefuls vying to become Playmate of the Month. Bill Pullman plays Playboy founder Hugh Hefner in the coming-of-age drama. Searchlight Pictures acquired the project in September 2026, with Alex Orlovsky and Duncan Montgomery of High Frequency Entertainment producing alongside Depp. Production is scheduled to shoot in Los Angeles from mid-October through mid-November 2026, with Searchlight's Richard Ruiz and Cornelia Burleigh overseeing for the studio.
